The hydrologic cycle of Burabay National Nature Park lakes
The aim of the project is to understand the role of climatic and anthropic factors on the hydrological cycle of lakes in Burabay Park. The influence of climate change on water balance of this area is of high interest for government and park administration as well. Investigating the water balance components that involve a comprehensive hydrological monitoring and research including the utilization of numerical methods will determine the current state of water systems in BNNP area. Research will also address questions on investigating the shallowing process and proposing mitigation scenarios for sustainable water management in the region. Moreover, sustainable water management solutions will be results of ground based research as well as results from applying remote sensing and geographic information system platform.
